Meet the Artist: My Journey to Becoming a Photographer and Educator

When I picked up my first camera over 20 years ago, I had no idea it would lead me to where I am today — running a full-time photography studio in Taunton, MN, and teaching others the craft I love.

Like so many photographers, my story started with family. I wanted to capture my own children’s milestones — the soft newborn features, the tiny hands, and the fleeting seasons of motherhood. But what began as a personal passion quickly grew into a calling.

Over the years, I’ve trained under world-renowned newborn photographer Ana Brandt, mastering posing, lighting, and newborn safety. That experience shaped not only how I photograph but also how I serve my clients — with care, confidence, and creativity.

Today, Keel Photography has become more than a studio. It’s a space where families laugh, babies dream, and new photographers learn to build careers rooted in compassion and artistry.

I believe every session — and every student — holds a story worth telling. And I’m so grateful that my camera lets me tell them.
